All of us here at Brevard Family Wellness Center are deeply saddened to learn not only about this morning’s shooting at Pulse Night Club in Orlando but also about the shooting of singer Christina Grimmie on Friday night as well. We know that there will be a large amount of people affected by these tragic events as there were many present at each of these shootings and those affected extends out to their friends and family as well as those who are unable to make sense of the world in light of these events. As much as we want to show that these senseless acts don’t create fear in us, for many they will.
We do not want our community to live in fear and to allow their actions to be dictated by these events. We will be here for those in our community that need assistance in their path to healing. We have counselors on staff with experience working with teens and young adults, the LGBT community, and with trauma.
We will be offering free counseling services for those affected by these events for the upcoming week. If you or someone you know would like to talk to a professional counselor about these events and/or need help finding services within the community please give us a call. It will be our pleasure to serve those affected by these events this week as well as in the future.
